The Paley Center for Media Announces Three Key Executive Appointments

New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA—The Paley Center for Media announced today three key appointments to the institution's executive team. Diane Lewis was promoted to Executive Vice President of Programming; Maureen Reidy was named Chief Marketing Officer; and Maxim Thorne was named Executive Vice President of Development.

"I am very pleased to welcome Maureen Reidy and Maxim Thorne to The Paley Center for Media and to recognize the role Diane Lewis has played in bringing our programming to international prominence," said Pat Mitchell, President and CEO of the Paley Center. "As the media landscape continues to change at a lightening pace, the Paley Center, which provides insight and context for both the media industry and media consumers, has never been more vital. The combined expertise of these three executives will be a tremendous asset to our organization and bring the Paley Center to even greater levels of success."

Diane Lewis is now Executive Vice President of Programming, responsible for all Paley Center programs in New York and Los Angeles including industry and public programs, along with the Center's educational activities. "The Paley Center's robust programming—for the industry, for students and educators, and for the general public—is unique in the caliber of talent we attract and the expertise we bring in curating these conversations," said Ms. Lewis. "I am excited to continue to strengthen the ways that Paley serves all of our diverse constituents, helping them explore media's ever-deepening influence on our society and culture."

Maureen Reidy has joined the Paley Center as Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing all marketing, communications, digital and social media, creative services, and commercial revenues. "I am thrilled to be joining the Paley Center's outstanding team," said Ms. Reidy. "As the convener of the world's preeminent media forums and the keeper of a true, national treasure—the Paley Archive—the opportunities to expand Paley's reach and maximize growth, both domestically and internationally, are limitless."

As the new Executive Vice President of Development, Maxim Thorne will be responsible for expanding and deepening the Paley Center's impact and resources. He oversees all Development and fundraising activities and is focused on developing key external alliances in the philanthropic community. "I'm honored to have the chance to build upon the galvanized base of support the Paley Center already enjoys," noted Mr. Thorne. "We are having new conversations from digitization to content protection, from valuing news to media and democracy, and I greatly look forward to helping the Paley Center grow and expand in the future."

 

About Diane Lewis
Diane Lewis has worked at the Paley Center for over twenty-five years in a range of leadership positions. In addition to directing the strategy for the institution's public programming calendar, in Ms. Lewis's most recent position as Vice President of Public Affairs and Programs, she had oversight of public relations; the Center's educational agenda; curatorial initiatives including acquisitions to the collection; as well as the editorial, art, design and production areas including social media, online programs, and gallery exhibits. Ms. Lewis has also executive produced the Paley Center's annual television special for over ten years as well as three seasons of At the Paley Center for WNET, both of which she will continue to do in her new position. Ms. Lewis has and continues to serve on a number of committees and boards of educational institutions and non-profit organizations, including the Williams College Leadership Committee and the Ethical Culture Fieldston School Alumni Board.

 

About Maureen Reidy
Maureen Reidy is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years experience, having recently served as CEO of The Argus Group, a full-service strategic marketing agency that served a cross section of blue chip entertainment, media, sports and municipal clients. Previously, Ms. Reidy served as Chief Operating Officer of IMG Fashion, where she was responsible for the day-to-day worldwide operations and was charged with expanding its portfolio of media assets. Prior to IMG, Ms. Reidy was selected by Mayor Bloomberg to join his administration and served as CEO of NYC Big Events and as the City's Chief Marketing Officer.

She also served on the NYC Economic Development Advisory Council, the Mayor's Commission on Latin Media & Entertainment, and also served as Chief Operating Officer of NYC Host Committee for the 2004 Republican National Convention. Before joining the Bloomberg Administration, Ms. Reidy worked for Donald J. Trump initially as Chief Internal Auditor and then—at the age of 26—became President of one of his newer acquisitions, The Miss Universe Organization, a joint venture with CBS. Ms. Reidy serves on the Board of Directors for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Dream Team. She was named by Crain's New York Business as one of the magazine's "40 under 40."

 

About Maxim Thorne
Maxim Thorne comes to the Paley Center from a long career as a senior development executive, a thought leader, lawyer, and philanthropist. Mr. Thorne received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science, cum laude honors, from Yale University, and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. He also teaches courses in philanthropy, law, and management at Yale University. He is focused, as The Paley Center for Media is, on the importance of philanthropy and media in a healthy civil society, and founded Philanthropy in Motion, which convenes and trains next generation donors in effective philanthropy in China, Nigeria, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and elsewhere.

Mr. Thorne served as Vice President and General Counsel of BOS Development, where he directed the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy. Previously, he was appointed the Senior Vice President and Chief Development and Communications Officer of the NAACP, which included the NAACP Image Awards, the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Human Rights Campaign; and Executive Director of New Jersey Head Start. He serves on the Yale Board of Governors, the Executive Committee of Yale Law School, the National Board of GLAAD, the National Board of Yale Black Alumni Association, and the Advisory Board of the Division of Gender, Sexuality & Health, Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and NYS Psychiatric Institute.
