New York, NY, September 17, 2024 – The Paley Center for Media today announced the latest selection of its acclaimed PaleyLive series. Back to School: An Evening with Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson. The evening featuring an exclusive look at the season four premiere, followed by a discussion with the series creator and star, Quinta Brunson, will take place at The Paley Museum located on 25 West 52 Street on Tuesday, October 8, at 6:30 pm.

Created by Brunson and inspired by her mother, Abbott Elementary follows a group of teachers brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.

During its acclaimed run, the series has won Peabody, Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe Awards, among many other accolades. This year it received an additional nine Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series, outstanding writing for a comedy series, and outstanding lead actress in a comedy series.

Ahead of the October 9 season four premiere on ABC, The Paley Museum will screen the season premiere episode followed by a conversation with Brunson, who in addition to playing “Janine Teagues” also serves as the show’s executive producer.

“Upon its 2022 premiere, Abbott Elementary quickly established itself as one of the smartest and funniest shows on television with its heartwarming portrayal of the hardworking, dedicated, and caring public school teachers of Willard R. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO. “We look forward to welcoming the multitalented Quinta Brunson to The Paley Museum for what promises to be a hilarious and entertaining evening.”
