BROADCASTING & CABLE HALL OF FAME TO BENEFIT THE PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIA FOR FIRST TIME

The 21st Hall of Fame awards dinner is set for New York’s Waldorf-Astoria, Wednesday, October 26th. The new class takes its place alongside the over 300 luminaries who have been recognized previously by Broadcasting & Cable Magazine.
The Paley Center for Media, with locations in New York and Los Angeles, leads the discussion about the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms for the professional community and media-interested public.
“The Paley Center is the town hall, central library and living history resource for our industry,” said Bill McGorry, Chairman of the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. “The work of The Paley Center dovetails perfectly with the mission of the Hall of Fame and underscores our shared commitment to honoring those leaders and visionaries who have built this business into what it is today.”
“The Paley Center for Media was founded by one of broadcasting's earliest leaders and entrepreneurs, William S. Paley, who along with founding CBS, also launched one of the early cable channels and music companies. Fittingly, in 1990 Bill Paley was named a B&C Hall of Fame honoree in their inaugural year. On behalf of the work Bill Paley started with this institution, we are honored to be named as a beneficiary at the 2011 Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame,” said Pat Mitchell, president and CEO of the Paley Center. “We join B&C in saluting all of this year’s distinguished honorees.”
Headlining this year’s stellar Hall of Fame class are the Emmy Award- winning and top-rated FOX primetime series American Idol and actress/comedian Betty White, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for a singular career that has spanned over 60 years. Other honorees include Johnson & Johnson, which will be recognized for its long history of outstanding television programming.

John S. Muszynski – Chief Investment Officer, SMG Exchange (SMGX)
Tom Rutledge – Chief Operating Officer, Cablevision Systems Corporation
Nina Tassler – President, CBS Entertainment
K. James Yager, CEO and Co-founder, Barrington Broadcasting Group, LLC
The charitable organization Broadcasters Foundation of America is also a Hall of Fame beneficiary. A safety net for radio and television professionals across the country, Broadcasters Foundation of America provides anonymous financial grants to those who are in acute need due to critical illness, advanced age, death of a spouse, an accident or other serious misfortune.
