The Paley Center is delighted to present this pop-up installation celebrating the May 22, 2019, hit special. On display are the re-creations of elements of the original Bunker living room set from All in the Family, in addition to six of designer Keri Smith’s costume creations for the Bunkers and the Jeffersons.
Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and the Jeffersons received instant acclaim, and is now nominated for multiple 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.
Executive Producer Norman Lear noted, “I’m so grateful for the talented Keri Smith and her team’s costume creations that allowed our actors to step right back in to the 1970s, and I can’t express in words the emotional response I had when seeing the sets again for the first time after forty plus years. Bernie Vyzga and his team worked from the original blueprints to brilliantly recreate the Bunker and Jefferson homes I remembered so clearly."
