Celebrate Black History Month with the New York premiere of the latest installment of National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Genius franchise, Genius: MLK/X, which focuses on two Black icons—Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X—and how their dueling philosophies helped usher America through the Civil Rights movement. The docudrama series brings their wives, who are often portrayed as peripheral figures, to the forefront and shows them as formidable equals of the movement.
After the screening, hear from actors Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.), Aaron Pierre (“Malcolm X”), Weruche Opia (“Coretta Scott King”), and Jayme Lawson (“Betty Shabazz”), and showrunners Raphael Jackson Jr. and Damione Macedon, as they discuss the series and share behind-the-scenes stories of bringing these legendary visionaries to life.
