The Paley Center is pleased welcome the stars and creators of NBC’s eagerly anticipated medical drama, New Amsterdam, to watch and discuss the intriguing and stirring pilot with us. The series follows a confident and smart incoming medical director Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold, The Blacklist) who seeks to shake up the bureaucracy of an underfunded and underappreciated public hospital. Working with doctors Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman, Doctor Who), Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims, Crash), and Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery, This Is Us), Goodwin pushes for the hospital to focus on the patients’ needs again.

New Amsterdam is inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer’s memoir Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital and his fifteen years at America’s oldest public hospital.
