All You Need Is the Summer of Love: First-Hand Accounts from Graham Nash, Michelle Phillips & More
6:30 PM ET
Come together now, at the Paley Center NY, for a unique trip back to the Summer of Love.
The Beatles helped to usher in this social phenomenon fifty years ago with a historic performance of “All You Need Is Love,” telecast during Our World, the first internationally televised program on June 25, 1967. This pioneering live telecast (with such special guests as Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and Graham Nash) was seen by over 500 million people via linked satellites around the world, a technological first. The single became a number one hit in numerous countries, including the United States, Germany, Australia, and Norway.
Come watch the groundbreaking performance on the big screen and get behind-the-scenes stories from our moderator Graham Nash, who will describe what was happening in the studio during the telecast. The panel will also talk about the other Summer of Love events captured by the media, such as the Monterey Pop Festival and the Tompkins Square Park happenings in New York, and the effect they had on the world’s consciousness. Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
