“The scariest, most emotionally draining film you must see this year”—Richard Corliss, Time

Nominated for the 2013 Academy Award in the Best Documentary Feature category, The Invisible War is a shocking investigation into one of the American military’s most shameful and best kept secrets: the widespread epidemic of rape. As the film vividly demonstrates, a female soldier in a combat zone is more likely to be raped than killed by enemy fire; in fact, twenty percent of all active female soldiers have been sexually assaulted.

Called “one of the indispensable muckrakers of American cinema” by A. O. Scott of the New York Times, director Kirby Dick focuses on the powerfully emotional testimony of the rape survivors, who risk their careers in looking for justice. The Invisible War is an urgent call to action, creating a national conversation about sexual assault. After the screening, the panel will discuss how the Pentagon has responded to charges in the film.
