Summary
One in this situation comedy series about Kate McArdle and Allie Lowell, two divorced mothers with conflicting lifestyles who, along with their children, share a New York City apartment. In this episode, Kate and Allie face a substantial rent increase when their landlady points out that they have specifically violated the conditions of the lease. The story begins as the owner of their building, Janet Franklin, demands twice the usual rent when she discovers the dual-family living arrangements. Finding it impossible to locate another affordable and livable apartment, Kate and Allie decide to beat the stipulation of the lease by posing as a lesbian couple. Their plan backfires when Janet is not only delighted to learn that Kate and Allie are gay, but even introduces them to her own girlfriend, Miriam. As Kate struggles to explain the situation to her boyfriend Gary, Allie, who feels wrong about lying to Janet, inadvertently gets them both invited to a gay dance. On the big night, Janet overhears Kate and Allie arguing and calls their bluff. Commercials deleted.
