TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: OF LATE I THINK OF CLIFFORDVILLE (TV)

Summary

One in this science fiction/fantasy anthology series, hosted by Rod Serling. In this episode, ruthless seventy-five-year-old businessman William Feathersmith makes a pact with the Devil, Miss Devlin. She agrees to send Feathersmith back in time to 1910, to his hometown of Cliffordville, Indiana, so that he may claw his way to the top all over again. Since she already owns his soul, she now takes Feathersmith's fortune, leaving him only a little money and his knowledge of what the next fifty years will bring. In the Cliffordville of 1910, Feathersmith runs into two figures from the present -- Hecate, his janitor, and Deidrich, his business rival. He works on a scheme to buy fourteen hundred acres of land that he knows will be found to contain oil. His plans go awry, however, when he learns that no drilling equipment exists to reach the oil buried deep in his land and no one listens to his ideas for inventions. Exhausted and penniless, Feathersmith begs to be returned to 1963. Miss Devlin demands a forty dollar surcharge to send him back, however, and Feathersmith is forced to sell his land holdings to Hecate. When he returns to the present, Feathersmith is shocked to discover some changes have taken place. Includes commercials and a promo.
