MARSHAL DILLON {GUNSMOKE}: NEVER PESTER CHESTER (TV)
Summary
One in this series of western dramas about Marshal Matt Dillon, lawman of Dodge City, Kansas, and the people who live in and pass through that town in the closing decades of the 19th century. In this episode, two Texan cowboys, Trevitt and Stobo, arrive in Dodge City and begin to harass the women there. Chester attempts to get the men to leave the ladies alone, but finds himself roped by Stobo, who drags Chester behind him as he rides away on his horse. Marshal Dillon searches for Chester. By the time he finds him, Chester is barely alive and there is not much hope for his survival. Dillon decides to track down the two evildoers. First, he finds Trevitt, whom he sends back to Dodge City tied to a horse. Later, Dillon returns home with Stobo. Then, miraculously, Chester begins to get better and the marshal discovers that he no longer has any legal right to keep his two prisoners. However, he decides to get even with Stobo in his own way. (This is a re-telecast of a program that originally aired on November 16, 1957, under the series title "Gunsmoke." From 1961 to 1964 while new hour-long programs of "Gunsmoke" aired on Saturdays on CBS, CBS also broadcast reruns of the original half-hour episodes of "Gunsmoke" on Tuesday nights under the title "Marshal Dillon.")
