Summary

Episode five of this eighteen-hour drama, presented under the umbrella of "ABC Novel for Television," about the experiences of U.S. Navy officer Victor "Pug" Henry and his family from 1939 to1941. In this portion, Palmer Kirby and Rhoda Henry have an affair; Hitler turns his attention from England to an invasion of Russia; and Byron Henry and Natalie Jastrow are married in Portugal. Byron and Natalie honeymoon; Winston S. Churchill writes to President Franklin D. Roosevelt for aid; Roosevelt decides he must help the British defend themselves; Hermann Goering asks Pug to spy for the Germans; and Byron, on submarine duty, ships out from Lisbon.
