WHITE SHADOW, THE: A FEW GOOD MEN {SEASON TWO FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas about Ken Reeves, a former professional basketball player, who begins a new life as the basketball coach of Carver High, an inner-city high school in Los Angeles. In this episode, as graduation day approaches the members of the team begin to ponder what they will do after high school. Reese auditions for the job of lead singer with a popular band and is encouraged by the vote of confidence he gets from the group's leader. Goldstein receives a college scholarship but is uncertain whether to accept it. Meanwhile, the vice principal Sybil Buchanan informs Milton Reese that he was seen spray-painting on the school's walls and he'll have to volunteer at the community crisis center to pay for the vandalism. Goldstein lies to the team about the scholarship but Coach Reeves tells them about it. His teammates can't believe that Goldstein is not going to accept the scholarship considering some of them won't be able to go to college for financial reasons. When Reese's singing gig falls through, it only increases his negative attitude towards his future and that attitude is clearly evident when he shows up for his volunteer work. Later, Goldstein confides to Reeves why he is afraid to accept the scholarship and afraid to go to college. Reese walks out on the community center after the director, Ron Taylor, attempts to excercise authority over him. Buchanan is furious with Reese but knows there is nothing she can do and decides to let Reese pave his own future. Waiting in the U.S. Marines recruiting center, Goldstein feels undecided whether he can go through with enlisting. Against his will, Reese goes back to the community center and is told to answer the phone while Taylor goes out for coffee. Reese takes a call from a suicidal woman and does his best to talk her out of it, but she hangs up and doesn't call back. The next day, Reese meets the caller's sister and learns what happened. Also, Goldstein informs the team whether or not he has enlisted and Reeves understands his decision. Commercials deleted.
