Summary
A documentary on the pop music and culture of the 1960's, featuring film and video clips of 60's-era performers. The beginning of the program features the following topics and performers: Mary Travers sings "The Times They Are a-Changin'"; the assassination and funeral of President John F. Kennedy; the Beatles sing "From Me to You"; Twiggy talks with Gerry and the Pacemakers; Brian Epstein talks about the Beatles, with comments by Ringo Starr and Malcolm McDowell; the Searchers; Twiggy on fashion in the 1960's; Donovan talks with John Ritter; surf music; Brian Wilson talks about the Beach Boys, who sing "California Girls"; the Association; television in the 1960's; and the Byrds. The program continues and features the following topics and performers: Robert Klein with a comic monologue on the 1960's; the Beatles and their film, "Yellow Submarine"; Bob Dylan talks about lyrics; Mary Travers talks about "Puff the Magic Dragon"; Marianne Faithful talks about drugs and sings "White Rabbit"; Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; Petula Clark sings "Downtown"; Dionne Warwick; Joan Rivers on feminism in a clip from 1979; John Lennon with "Give Peace a Chance"; and Donovan with "The Universal Soldier." Also includes appearances by the Four Tops; Janis Ian; Stevie Wonder; Barry McGuire, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. Commercials deleted.
