Summary
One in this dramatic anthology series. Host Sterling Hayden introduces this adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel about Charles Marlow's search for the sinister and enigmatic Mr. Kurtz. In this portion, Marlow returns home to find out from Kurtz's daughter Maria that Kurtz has been in the Congo for six years. He travels there and is encouraged to join Kurtz's "Society."
Marlow and Kurtz are reunited. During the celebration of evil that follows, Kurtz attempts to brand Marlow with "A.K.," thus making him one of his slaves. His efforts are thwarted by Marlow's statement of self-realization. Kurtz's empire crumbles, and he dies in Marlow's arms. Includes commercials.
