DICK VAN DYKE SHOW, THE: COAST-TO-COAST BIG MOUTH {FIFTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy programs about the personal and professional life of Rob Petrie, the head comedy writer for television's "Alan Brady Show." In this episode, Laura gets picked to compete on a game show, and Rob, Alan, and the gang watch as Laura is grilled by the show's host, Johnny Patrick, about Alan Brady's personality. Laura makes it through the preliminary interview without doing too much damage to Alan's pride, and Rob and his co-workers turn off the television set and go to lunch, much relieved. At the end of the show, however, Laura is tricked into revealing that Alan wears a toupee. That evening, she tells Rob about her faux pas, and they manage to convince themselves that Alan will never find out -- until Buddy calls to tell them that the story has made the newspaper. The next morning at work, Rob is waiting for the axe to fall when Sally tells him that she has just seen Laura in the elevator. Rob deduces that she must be on her way to talk to Alan, and he rushes out the door to stop her before she puts her other foot in her mouth. Commercials deleted.
This program was cataloged in honor of Gary Murphy, 2000.
