Summary

One in this series of sports programs. This program features the premiere broadcast of footage of the March 8, 1971 "Fight of the Century" between two unbeaten heavyweight champions: Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. Frazier and Ali join Howard Cosell in the studio and provide commentary as they watch the fight film. Round one begins as Cosell narrates the bout and asks Ali and Frazier for their comments, but the two fighters soon become involved in bickering and in predicting the results of their upcoming rematch on January 28, 1974. During the broadcast of round ten, Ali calls Frazier "dumb" and "ignorant," and a skirmish erupts between the two. Finally, Frazier leaves the studio but Ali remains. Round ten is broadcast again, with commentary by Ali and Cosell. Cosell and Ali analyze the remaining rounds of the fifteen-round fight. During the broadcast of round twelve, Ali admits he was "stunned ... but not hurt" by a Frazier blow and vows that it will be different when he and Frazier meet in their upcoming rematch on January 28, 1974. Action in round fifteen shows Ali getting knocked down. Ali loses the fight to Frazier by a unanimous decision. Includes commercials.
