Summary
This special honors Bob Keeshan's 25th Anniversary as the host of the children's program "Captain Kangaroo." Highlights include the following: clips from early "Captain Kangaroo" shows; in a skit, Jean Stapleton portrays a woman who has seen every episode of "Captain Kangaroo"; Keeshan, as the Captain, tours a supermarket while discussing the changes that have occurred over the previous 25 years; the Magic Carpet Band performs songs and skits written by children; Barbara Mandrell hosts a retrospective display of dolls that entered the toy market during the 25 years Captain Kangaroo has been on the air; Keeshan sings a song reviewing the many special guests who have appeared on his show (accompanied by clips of those guests); a skit in which a family reviews and updates the rules of their house; Barbara Mandrell sings "The Best of Strangers"; Jean Stapleton and Mike Farrell sing a duet; Mike Farrell sings "A Married Man"; Jean Stapleton sings "Turn Around"; and Captain Kangaroo, Dennis (Cosmo F. Allegretti), and Mr. Green Jeans (Hugh "Lumpy" Brannum) sing "Stick Together." Commercials deleted.
