GENERAL ELECTRIC ALL STAR ANNIVERSARY (TV)

Summary

This variety special commemorates "General Electric's 100 Years of Progress for People." Highlights include the following: Pat Hingle portrays Thomas Edison, Suzanne Somers performs a song-and-dance routine, Michael Landon discusses the turn of the century, James Stewart portrays Mark Twain, Cheryl Ladd appears in a tribute to the Ziegfeld Follies, James Whitmore portrays Will Rogers, Lucille Ball appears as a flapper, Charlie Pride sings a country-and-western song, and Bob Hope does a monologue. Other highlights include: appearances by Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall; songs from the fifties with Sha Na Na; Henry Fonda discussing the sixties, along with Henry Winkler and Alex Haley, who read from the speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and John F. Kennedy; Red Skelton in a parade sketch; and appearances by Elizabeth Taylor, comedian Albert Brooks, and actors John Ritter and Suzanne Somers. Also, Donny and Marie Osmond sing and Hingle appears again as Thomas Edison. Commercials deleted.
