CBS NEWS CAMPAIGN '68: REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION {PART 6 OF 6} (TV)

Summary

Continues from T78:0765. Final segment of live coverage of the last night of the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami Beach, Florida. Responding to Richard M. Nixon's speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination, Cronkite terms Nixon "Mr. Republican," says he had superior campaign organization, and says the choice of Gov. Spiro Agnew of Maryland as his running mate was the only surprise. Mike Wallace introduces a political biography, with film clips, of Nixon. The biography includes Nixon's 1962 loss to Edmund Brown in the California gubernatorial race, relations between Nixon and Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, Nixon support for 1966 Republican Congressional hopefuls, and Nixon's 1967 world tour. This concludes the convention coverage.
