Summary
The third episode of this special series tracing the history of one black family through generations of enslavement in America. Nine years have passed; it is September 1776. During a plantation celebration, Kunta Kinte escapes again, to another plantation to find Fanta, an old friend from Africa. He finds her, but she rejects his pleas to run away with him. He is discovered and his foot is cut off. Dr. Reynolds has become the new master, and his cook Bell takes a liking to Kunta Kinte. Commercials deleted.
