INVASION: THE LAST WAVE GOODBYE {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The series finale in this science fiction series about water-based extraterrestrials that infiltrate a small Florida town, taking over the bodies of townspeople.
This episode begins amidst the chaos of the successor to Hurricane Eve, as Sheriff Tom Underlay watches from his hiding place. Hybrid troops begin hurling the townspeople off the wharf and into the ocean. Seeing this, Russell knows he needs to do something and escapes from the locked storage shed. Tom locates Kira and the two drive off toward the scene.
Meanwhile, bright lights begin falling from the sky as four of the pregnant women leave the facility where Szura held them, assisted by Mariel. At the same time, Larkin saves Jesse and Rose from being tossed into the water by finding them hiding spots. However, Rose is discovered and taken away. Tom drives onto the scene, taking out some of the hybrids and creating a scene which allows many of the townspeople, including Rose, to escape. Soon enough, Russell joins him in the fight and informs Tom of Mariel's location. Just then, Air Force security personnel come onto the scene, calling for a cease-fire as the hybrids put their hands in the air. Russell finally reunites with Larkin and the kids. At the same time, Tom watches as Mariel and the pregnant women are taken away by Szura.
The morning after, Dave surveys the damage, noting that Mariel has been kidnapped while the military has secured the area and rounded up all the hybrids. He notes that the military has spent considerable time speaking with Tom. Brett and a "revolutionary" townie discuss a plan to go after Tom, thinking him responsible for the chaos. Meanwhile, Tom tries to explain to Sabrina how Szura was throwing people into the water in the hopes of creating a hybrid majority in town. The locked-up Tom furthers explains that Dennison is actually Szura. At the same time, Russell tells Larkin that he is off to locate Mariel.
Tom is eventually freed and he and Russell head toward Battery Park. There, in a heavily guarded compound, Szura holds Mariel and the pregnant women captive. Meanwhile, Dave notices that government relief workers have quickly arrived on the scene, even though they shouldn't have known about the damage to the town. Then, Brett and his colleague take Dave and Larkin hostage, ordering that they be driven to Tom's house. At the same time, Mariel informs Szura that the pregnant women must be taken to water, as their blood is more like marine mammals than humans. Then, Tom and Russell shoot their way into the compound, rescuing Mariel and the pregnant women. Not satisfied, Tom sets his sights on locating Szura.
Meanwhile, Mariel asks Russell to help her get the pregnant women to water, something that frightens him. Eventually, Tom locates Szura and shoots him dead. Before dying, Szura assures Tom that his plans for evolution have already succeeded. Meanwhile, the kidnappers arrive at Tom's house, finding no one there. Lewis -- hidden in a back room with Kira, Jesse, and Rose -- tries to take out the two intruders. Quickly, however, Lewis and the children are captured by the men. At the same time, Mariel gets the pregnant women to water, with Russell still worried that their offspring may be dangerous. Once in the ocean, the women are approached by mysterious creatures that envelop their bodies. Jesse tries to convince Brett to end the kidnapping, telling him that they are on the same side, but Brett is still angered about what happened to his mother.
Eventually, Tom arrives on the scene and is able to disarm Brett's colleague. During the scuffle, the gun is fired and the bullet hits Larkin's lung, making her fear for the survival of her fetus. As Larkin appears to be dying, Tom rushes her to the ocean. Russell and Mariel subsequently find him on the beach without Larkin, and unable to tell them what happened. Includes commercials.
