GUIDING LIGHT (JONATHAN AND TAMMY'S "FRESH START"} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this episode, Jonathan and Tammy plan a special date to celebrate their "fresh start," but the ominous thunder and lightning causes spirits to appear in Jonathan's head. First, Jonathan is visited by the spirit of his father Nate, a.k.a. Alfred, who taunts him about his relationship and how he "conned" Tammy out of her virginity. Then, an imaginary Dinah and Sandy appear to further show Jonathan how he destroyed Tammy in the past and will continue to do so in the future due to his heartless nature. Next, Sandy shows Jonathan that Tammy's relationship with her younger brother R.J. will be destroyed by their union. Sandy offers further torment by saying that no one will attend Jonathan and Tammy's wedding as everyone in town hates and is disgusted by the "kissing cousins." Sandy further introduces Jonathan to Dustin, the true love of Tammy's life. Next, an imaginary Cassie shows up, telling Jonathan that Tammy will ultimately leave him due to his violent streak. However, back in the real world, Tammy is, in fact, elated to see Jonathan, but he is worried that his hallucinations have some basis in fact and wishes he could undo everything. Magically catapulted back to the first day he ever met Tammy, Jonathan this time decides to tell her immediately that they are cousins. This appears to make things better as Tammy is thrilled to have a big brother-like presence in her life. However, the spirits inform Jonathan that it would be better if Tammy and Jonathan had simply never met. A saddened and angered Jonathan tries to break things off with Tammy, telling her to get as far away from him as possible, but she refuses -- she wants to love Jonathan and be with him. Finally, Jonathan engages in one final confrontation with his father's ghost. Commercials deleted, excepting announcements of a sponsor and show podcast.
