Summary
One in this occasional series of interview specials, hosted by Barbara Walters. On this program, Walters's annual pre-Oscar show, Walters's guests are Matthew McConaughey, Patrick Dempsey, Mariah Carey, and Oscar nominee George Clooney. The first guest, McConaughey, discusses the following topics, among others: how handsome and sexy he is; being People's "Sexiest Man Alive"; his childhood with parents that continually married and divorced over their thirty-nine years together; his romance with Penelope Cruz and whether he will ever get married; how reading "The Greatest Salesman in the World" changed his life; thoughts about his deceased father; an incident in 1999 when he was playing congas, naked in his home, and was arrested for noise violation; and whether reports of his odd quirks are true. The second guest, Dempsey, discusses the following topics, among others: his "amazing" hair; his confidence as a "surgeon" on "Grey's Anatomy"; being in learning disabled classes as a youth; eventually learning he was dyslexic; being skilled at sports such as skiing; how juggling (which he demonstrates) started his career; being a "teenage heartthrob"; marrying his older manager when he was twenty-one; why he doesn't go to movies; how getting his hair cut led to him meeting his current wife; what makes a marriage successful; discussing sexuality with the media; and the love triangle on "Grey's Anatomy." The third guest, Carey, discusses the following topics, among others: her recent performance at the Grammy Awards; not winning Album of the Year at the Grammys; how she writes a song when she can't read music; being bi-racial and how she classifies herself; singing as an "escape"; her marriage to Tommy Mottola; her emotional meltdown the previous year and whether it was truly due to "exhaustion"; and whether she has ever considered suicide. The fourth guest, Clooney, discusses the following topics, among others: what Oscar he would most like to win this year, having been nominated as a supporting actor in "Syriana" and for directing and co-writing "Good Night and Good Luck"; becoming seriously injured while filming a torture scene in "Syriana"; being a "huge" star; not being the "Sexiest Man Alive" this year; taking supporting roles when he could have bigger roles; why he wanted to make a movie about Edward R. Murrow; whether he still has a pet potbelly pig; why he has had a longer relationship with a pig than any woman; why he won't ever marry again; and whether he would ever play a gay cowboy a la "Brokeback Mountain."
