GREY'S ANATOMY: RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The second season premiere in this dramatic medical series about the lives and loves of a group of surgeons at a Seattle hospital. In this episode, Meredith struggles with the arrival in town -- and at the hospital -- of Addison, the wife of her boss and boyfriend Derek. As everyone is celebrating George having punched out Alex, Cristina reveals to Meredith that she is pregnant, and Joe the bartender collapses. Derek complains to the recovering, bed-bound Richard about adding Addison to the surgical unit and promoting Preston to temporary chief-of-surgery. Meanwhile, Cristina ponders her relationship with Preston, wondering whether to tell him about her pregnancy. Eventually, Meredith faces off with Addison as they team up for a conjoined fetal twins case. Tired of being out of the loop, Richard appoints George as his "sponge," the intern responsible for reporting on all the hospital's goings-on and gossip. The uninsured Joe tries to get a transfer to the county hospital as he worries that he may lose the bar due to the exorbitant costs of his impending surgery, involving the removal of an aneurysm. George struggles with sponge duty, unable to tell Richard about the hospital's secrets. Meanwhile, Meredith continues to ponder her relationship to Derek, as Cristina wrestles with revealing the truth to Preston. As both Joe and the mother of the fetal conjoined twins head toward surgery, worries about both abound. George looks for a loophole to prevent Joe from paying outrageous medical fees when a seemingly innocuous comment from Alex gives him an idea. Ultimately, Preston decides it best to make a "clean break" with Cristina, inadvertently nixing her chance to tell him about the pregnancy. Finally, Meredith learns that she may be able to work with the tough Addison after all. Includes commercials.
