BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: PEGASUS (TV)

Summary

One in this science fiction series which re-imagines the 1978 ABC show "Battlestar Galactica" about a lost tribe of humans on a fleet of starships, led by the Battlestar Galactica, during a war with the robotic Cylons. In this episode, the Galactica is surprised to learn that the battlestar Pegasus -- thought to be destroyed by Cylons -- has survived, existing under the command of Admiral Cain. Adama's superior, Cain comes aboard the Galactica where she details how she was able to locate the battlestar by initially following Cylons that were seeking systems with natural resources. Doing its own scouting of natural resource systems, the Pegasus then accidentally found Galactica. Assuming command of the fleet, and slightly disdainful of Adama and especially Roslin, Cain goes about the ship making her own changes. Meanwhile, Tyrol meets Pegasus's curious deck chief Peter Laird, and Baltar goes aboard the Pegasus to study their captured Cylon prisoner, a badly beaten copy of Number Six. Examining her, Baltar finds her to be psychologically traumatized by torture. Eventually, Cain reassigns Apollo and Starbuck to the Pegasus, transferring and demoting them due to their past insubordinations. Once on the Pegasus, Apollo is sent on a recon mission to photograph the Cylon fleet, while Starbuck embarks on her own Blackbird rogue mission to get better photographs. Meanwhile, Pegasus crew members reveal their past rapes of their Cylon prisoner before attempting to rape the imprisoned Boomer. However, Helo and Tyrol intervene, accidentally killing a lieutenant, Alastair Thorne, before the two are arrested by Cain. Cain and Adama bicker over how to handle the dispute, but Cain ultimately decides on a court martial which ends with her hastily opting for executions. Upon discovering the execution order, Adama orders a marine strike team and accompanying Vipers to head to the Pegasus to rescue Helo and Tyrol. Cain acts in kind -- launching her Viper jets to counter-attack. Commercials deleted.
