BROOKLYN BRIDGE: THE DATE (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic series about a middle-class Jewish family living in Brooklyn, New York, in the 1950s.
In this episode, Sid arrives in the neighborhood with a sweet Edsel, a loaner he has borrowed for a big date he has planned with Flora. Meanwhile, the boys get set for their first high school dance, with Benny struggling to score a date. Elsewhere, Sophie, Jules, George, and Phyllis compare notes over which of them got the most out of seeing the film "Marty."
Later, Nathaniel hits up "dating expert" Alan for some advice on asking out girl. At the same time, George promises to take Phyllis on a date to a nightclub, Ben Maksik's. That night, Benny calls up Becky Abromowitz while Sid asks out Flora -- with both girls accepting. The next day, everyone prepares for their big dates. The kids go to Sid's to meet up, with Katie showing up for Alan and Amy Brewer arriving for Warren. However, Becky appears to have stood up Benny.
At Ben Maksik's, George and Phyllis enjoy some stand-up comedy courtesy of Monte Glickman. Meanwhile, as Benny waits in hopes that Becky is running late, Sid cheers him up by teaching him how to scoop ice cream. Then, Benny calls the Abromowitzes looking for Becky and learns she went to the dance with another boy. Sid gives Benny a talk about being stood up by girls, stating how he once took revenge on a young woman that insulted him. Then, as Sid gives Benny a ride in the Edsel, Flora finally shows. Ultimately, Sid and Flora take Benny to the nightclub with them, where he delights in the "adult entertainment." Commercials deleted.
