ABC PREMIERE EVENT: LINE OF FIRE: EMINENCE FRONT {SERIES FINALE} (TV)

Summary

A movie special -- which serves as the series finale -- in this drama series about the ongoing battle between FBI agents and a crime syndicate in Richmond, Virginia. The program begins as drugged-out Alex Myers welcomes her boyfriend home from prison. After making love, the ex-con readies some guns. Meanwhile, Paige, Todd, Lisa, Jennifer, and Amiel go about their Saturday routines. Later, Alex is behind the wheel as the former prisoner pulls off a driveby shooting at Jennifer's house, missing her and Hunter but hitting Joanie. Amiel rushes into work. There, he and Paige quickly try to figure out if there were any eyewitnesses that could identify the shooters. Meanwhile, Donovan wonders why Leon has brought his cousin Larry into their world. Citing Donovan's position as a Malloy lieutenant, Leon asks if he can speak to Jonah about hiring Larry. At the same time, the undercover Roy flies with Jonah to New York for a mob consortium. Lisa has set up shop at the hospital, consoling young son Teddy before sending him home with an agent. Later, Todd gets a partial report on the shooter's license plate number. Paige and Amiel then look through the files of recently released convicts, and Amiel recalls one of them, gun-smuggler Randall Counts, having been taken down by Jennifer, who also killed his brother. Amiel is furious that the dangerous Randall would have been paroled. Meanwhile, Leon and Larry go to get a signature on insurance papers from Donovan's wife, Jada, at the brothel. While there, Larry decides to purchase a prostitute, Valentine, who blacks out during their session, infuriating the man. Jennifer is angry when Lisa informs her that the sprung Randall may have shot her daughter. Carl shows up to aid Jennifer and monitor his daughter's progress. Paige goes to prison official Henry Denard, wanting to speak with Randall's old cellmate, Dwight Baylow. Meanwhile, Dr. Albert Levy discusses the problems in removing the bullet from Joanie, saying she has a fifty/fifty chance of recovery. Carl is against the operation and playing "Russian roulette" with Joanie. However, Jennifer prevails, stating that Joanie wouldn't want to live as a severely impaired child. Later, forensics finds blood spots in the street that are the same blood type as Randall's. Denny Markus, Randall's cousin, then arrives at the FBI offices, telling Todd that his cousin had legitimate gun licenses and didn't deserve to be targeted. Meanwhile, Jada and Janet go out for cocktails on "girls' night out." At the same bar, Leon and Larry meet up for drinks. Larry sees Jada and wants to approach her to get a refund for Valentine passing out. Instead, the coke-sniffing Larry chases down Janet outside the club, where he brutally beats and rapes her. That night, Paige speaks with Dwight, who refuses to answer questions until she gives him a kiss on the lips. As it turns out, Dwight is simply trying to humiliate her, as he pulls back when she attempts to go through with his request. He ultimately does tell her how Randall was obsessed with Jennifer and dreamed of killing her. Later, a bartender finds Janet raped and unconscious in her car. Donovan rushes to the hospital to see Janet, where the bartender tells him that Larry was responsible. Then, Donovan calls Jonah to tell him what happened. Later, Paige speaks to Amiel about some of Randall's former prison friends, thinking they might have some info. Kyle Bowen, who was also in prison because of Jennifer but was recently released, is of prime interest. Meanwhile, Donovan tracks down Leon and Larry in the early morning and takes them deep into the woods. There, Donovan yells at Larry before beating him up and shooting him. Donovan also kills Leon for having brought Larry into the operation. Eventually, Jonah and Roy return from New York. Donovan says it wouldn't be wise for Jonah to go see Janet since the hospital is already full of feds watching over Joanie. Jonah instructs Roy to deliver flowers to Janet and bring a message to Lisa. Roy and Lisa privately meet, with Roy telling her that Jonah claims no part in Joanie's shooting. Lisa asks Roy to get help from Jonah in finding Randall. Jonah and Donovan are upset to hear that Randall is accused of shooting Joanie, as they had dealt with him on securing weapons. Jonah thinks they should find Randall and deliver him to the feds. Roy goes to speak with Randall's ex-girlfriend, Angela, who tries to flee before Roy forces her to reveal Randall's whereabouts. Meanwhile, the feds follow up on Randall's likely locale while Paige heads to the apartment of Alex Myer, Kyle's girlfriend. There, Alex says her name is Fay and that she knows nothing. When Paige looks around the apartment, Alex tries to kill her, though Paige finally gets the upper hand. At the same time, the feds bust into the rustic shack where they believe Randall is hiding. Surprisingly, they find Randall's long-dead body. Paige brings the injured Alex to the hospital and begins interrogating her on Kyle's whereabouts. An out-of-control Amiel beats up Alex before Paige intervenes. Paige tells Alex that Kyle has HIV due to being repeatedly raped in prison. Paige further notes that Alex probably has the disease as well. Meanwhile, Roy reports to Jonah and Donovan that Randall is dead and that the feds are looking for Kyle. At the same time, Jennifer and Carl are concerned at how long Joanie's operation is taking. Ameil arrives to tell Jennifer that Kyle is now their top suspect. Just then, Jennifer and Carl gets news that Joanie's operation appears to have been a success. Elsewhere in the hospital, Lisa encourages Alex to "pay back" Kyle for giving her HIV by turning him in. Alex says she honestly doesn't know Kyle's whereabouts, but she reveals that Kyle is going after the children of other FBI agents involved in his case. As Lisa knows that she falls into that category, she dispatches Paige to retrieve Teddy from her ex-husband's house. That night, Jonah finally visits Janet in the hospital, where he tells her that she "sends the wrong message" in the way she dresses. Janet breaks down when Jonah leaves her room. At the same time, Kyle waits outside the house of Teddy's father, armed and ready. As Paige races to the scene, Teddy starts down the front steps. Kyle draws his gun, and Paige crashes into Kyle's car to prevent a murder. Paige is injured from the impact, but Kyle is hurt even worse. When he tries to shoot Paige, she is forced to finish him off. Finally, Janet calls for Lisa to come to her hospital room. There, she says she can tell Lisa whatever she needs to know about Jonah. Includes commercials.
