STEPHEN KING'S KINGDOM HOSPITAL: GOODBYE KISS {EPISODE 3} (TV)

Summary

The third in this thirteen-part miniseries, developed by Stephen King and based on Lars von Trier's "The Kingdom," about ghostly happenings experienced by staff and visitors at a hospital in Lewiston, Maine. This episode begins with Dr. Hook atop the elevator while Sally remains in the compartment below. He tells Sally about finding a doll, which tickles her until she learns he dropped it. Meanwhile, at the correctional facility in Androscoggin County, Maine, prisoner Rolf Pedersen is brought a piece of mail that delights him. Outside in a car, his girlfriend Harriet examines another piece of paper, containing the same kind of edible tabs to enact a suicide pact. The two both consume the poison. However, the guards find and rescue Rolf before he can die. At the same time, Abel and Christa help Dr. Hook retrieve the "dolly" from the bottom of the shaft. Sally finds the doll handmade and incredibly old. She questions Dr. Hook as to whether he saw Mary atop the elevator and he admits that he did. Sally tells Dr. Hook that she can search for Mary if he gets her readmitted. Meanwhile, Peter's condition keeps changing. As EMTs Danny and Ollie drive Rolf to Kingdom, they nearly get in a wreck with an old-fashioned ambulance seemingly driven by no one. Dr. Hook enlists Christine and Jesse to get Sally readmitted without Dr. Stegman's knowledge. Jesse is still making his plans for Operation: Morning Air.

Meanwhile, Carrie is forced to work on Rolf but notices that his eyeballs are bleeding. He then rises from his semi-comatose state and begins singing, seemingly hypnotizing the doctors into joining him in the same song. At the same time, Mona's mother Renee charges into Kingdom to see Dr. Stegman. Natalie tries to talk to Peter but he is in one of his trances where he explores the old hospital corridors, getting a warning about Rolf from the anteater. Sally has trouble locating Mary and soon has Bobby taking her to the hospital's basement. Dr. Stegman and Brenda discuss his confusion over the Keepers' secret society, as well as the trouble he could face from the Klingermans. Dr. Stegman also runs into a problem with Hawk, the latest fill-in for Johnny B. Goode, who refuses to deal with earthquake damage to the physician's office. Eventually, Sally is able to locate the presence of what she thinks is Mary, but she quickly realizes it's another child, the evil Paul. Mona hears Paul, too, but has Mary at her side for protection.

Later, Abel and Christa spraypaint Dr. Stegman's car. At the same time, Dr. Stegman finally speaks with Renee, who claims that he "butchered" her daughter's brain. After citing his history of botched operations in Boston, Renee says she has retained a lawyer and is going to start a malpractice suit against him. Dr. Stegman promises to counter-sue. Soon, Mary wakes up Peter, saying she's sad because she lost her doll, while she is afraid of Paul. Paul then appears and drags her away. Peter also learns that the anteater is named Antubis. Elsewhere in the hospital, Sally hears that Lenny is about to die. Also, Stegman finally sees what the orderlies wrote on his car and screams for vengeance. Finally, Rolf wills the dead Harriet to rise from her drawer in the morgue. Includes commercials.
