PECADOS CAPITALES {DEADLY SINS} {PREMIERE} {SPANISH} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this telenovela in which a dying man draws together all his relations to live together for a year to determine who is worthy of his inheritance. In this opening chapter, Don Evaristo Salinas, the wealthiest and most powerful man in the country, announces to his three associates -- his old housekeeper Felicia, his legal representative Philip, and his business manager Caridad -- that he will die within a year and has decided to reunite all the members of his family, none of which he has seen for forty years. Philip and Caridad set off to convince a motley crew of relations to see the man before he dies and attend the reading of Don Evaristo's last will. They get the following family members to come: his bossy niece Hortensia, who brings along her lazy husband, a psychiatrist named Anibal, and her son Manuel, as well as her greedy brother Alberto and his timid wife Lidia; the flamboyantly dressed Teresa, from the illegitimate side of the family, who brings along her husband Gilberto (a magician known as "Professor Kandu") and her 18-year-old daughter Milena; Doris, the senile sister of Don Evaristo, and her over-protective son Amadeo, who is constantly snacking; Fabiana, a businesswoman and owner of her own lingerie factory in Mexico City; and Esperanza, the daughter of Don Evaristo's nephew who was once very close to him but who now wants nothing to do with him or the money. All assembled, Philip announces that Don Evaristo has already died, but it isn't true. It is only the first step in Evaristo's plan.
