LAW & ORDER {LAW AND ORDER}: CRIMINAL INTENT: SEIZURE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas -- a spin-off of "Law & Order" -- that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals, but with a slight twist: each episode begins from the criminal's point of view as the actual crime is committed. This episode concerns a series of "rage murders" that seem to mimic those of the imprisoned serial killer "The Hotel Ripper." The episode begins with a woman luring lesbians back to her hotel room to kill. Goren and Eames pick up the case at a lesbian bar which leads them back to an unsuspecting teacher that was nearly murdered herself. The teacher leads the detectives to meth addict Johnny West who is immediately tapped as an accomplice, before Goren realizes that he was simply duped into the taking a small part in the crime. Running out of options, the detectives visit The Hotel Ripper, Kevin Reddick, at Rikers Island, who tips them off to a serial killer "groupie," Karyn Barrett, who is obsessed with him. Though also not the killer, the two detectives next are lead towards Reddick's psychiatrist Roger Buckman and his mysterious assistant Dr. Cathleen Dwyer, both proponents of a controversial serial killer brain disease theory that helps the detectives solve the case.
