PREMIO LO NUESTRO A LA MUSICA LATINA 1992 {'LO NUESTRO' LATIN MUSIC AWARDS} {SPANISH} (TV)

Summary

The fourth edition (1992) of this yearly music awards presentation program which honors Latin music achievements in the United States. This year's program, presented by Univisi—n and Billboard Magazine live from Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and hosted by Daniela Romo and Antonio Vodanovic, gives awards in the categories of Pop/Ballad, Tropical/Salsa, and Regional Mexican; this is the first year for an award in the Rap category, due to the increased volume of musicians performing in that style. Additional awards include the program's award for excellence in recognition of the artist's contribution to Latin music in the United States and the best video award. The program opens with a performance by the group Locomía of their hit "Locomía." The two hosts welcome the guests to the show and give a special thanks to the channels broadcasting the ceremony across the United States and in Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The award presentations and performances in this segment include the following: Charytin presents the first two awards, to Ana Gabriel for best female artist, Pop/Ballad, and to Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40 for best band, Tropical/Salsa; Victor Victor performs "Ando buscando un amor"; Selena and Ricky Martin present the award for best album, Regional Mexican, to Ana Gabriel for "Mi México"; Raúl di Blasio presents the award for best new artist, Tropical/Salsa, to Victor Victor; the group Magneto performs "Vuela, vuela"; the band Bronco presents the award for best band, Pop/Ballad, to Pandora; and Eddie Santiago performs (unidentified song); Rocío Banquells presents the next two awards, for best band, Regional Mexican, to La Mafia, and for best new artist, Pop/Ballad, to Magneto (who beats out newcomer Ricky Martin). The awards continue with Magneto presenting the award for best album, Tropical/Salsa, to Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40 (not present) for "Bachata Rosa"; Pandora performs (song unidentified) followed by Willy Chirino (song unidentified); Pilar Isla presents five of the ten best musical video finalists; Victor Victor and (unrecognized name) present the award for best album, Pop/Ballad, to Pandora with "Con amor eterno"; Selena y los Dinos perform "Enamorada de ti," and Ricky Martin performs "Fuego contra fuego"; Lisa M. and Eddie Santiago present the award for best new artist, Regional Mexican, to Grupo Mojado; Daniela Romo presents a performance by Luis Enrique (song unidentified) in honor of his homeland, Nicaragua; Pilar Isla presents the last five best musical video finalists; Franco de Vita and Victor Sen present the award for artist of the year, Tropical/Salsa, to Eddie Santiago; and Jon Secada performs "Otro día màs sin verte."

La Mafia performs "Como me duele el amor"; the group Pandora presents the next two awards, for best male artist, Regional Mexican, to Vicente Fernández, and for best female artist, Regional Mexican, to Ana Gabriel; Luis Enrique and Charytin announce the award for best male artist, Pop/Ballad, for Luis Miguel (not present); Daniela Romo performs (song unidentified); the same presenters continue with the award for best song, Regional Mexican, to La Mafia for "Como me duele el amor," composed by Ricardo Quijano and produced by Armando Lichtenberger; La Banda Show performs "Ella me vacila"; Luca Bentivoglio presents the award for best artist in the new Rap category to El General (not present); Pilar Isla announces the winner of the best musical video award to Daniela Romo for "Todo, todo, todo," produced by Eduardo Fernández; the band Mazz presents the award for best song, Tropical/Salsa, to La Banda Show for "Ella me vacila," composed by Austin Becket Cyrus and produced by Raymond Pérez; the award for excellence is presented by Univision's president Joaquín Blaya and a representative from Billboard magazine, Timothy White, to Gloria Estefan, and they are joined on stage by singer and composer Juan Gabriel in honor of his inspiration to Latin artists; Franco de Vita performs "No basta"; the group Locom’a present the award for best song, Pop/Ballad, to Vikki Carr and Ana Gabriel's "Cosas del amor," composed by Roberto Levy and Rudy Pérez and produced by Roberto Levy. The hosts thank the audience and conclude the program. Commercials deleted.
