MONK: MR. MONK AND THE CANDIDATE {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The feature-length pilot in this series about Sherlockian detective Adrian Monk, a man who develops an obsessive-compulsive disorder after his wife's murder. In this episode, Monk begins a new career as a private police consultant in Santa Clara with work on the murder case of Nicole Vasques. Meanwhile, he tries to cure his OCD tendencies with regular visits to his psychiatrist Dr. Kroger in the hopes of being reinstated to the San Francisco police force. When mayoral candidate Warren St. Clair is nearly killed in a sniper attack (which instead kills his bodyguard), a special request is made to get Monk on the case, against the wishes of his former boss Captain Stottlemeyer. As Monk tries to solve the case he battles his obsessive-compulsiveness head on, continues investigating his wife's still-unsolved murder, and makes his assistant/nurse Sharona Flemming's life a living hell. Commercials deleted.
