SIX FEET UNDER: THE LIAR AND THE WHORE (TV)
Summary
One in this series about the Fisher clan, a loving -- if dysfunctional -- family struggling to maintain a sense of normalcy in the face of the stressful day-to-day operations of the eccentric family business, a funeral home in Los Angeles. In this episode, elderly Edith Kirky dies in the Bay Breeze Nursing Home, where Federico's wife Vanessa works. Nate receives a hand-delivered summons for a lawsuit the Fishers are facing from their old client Mrs. Collins, who claims she is under emotional distress from having been shown her late husband's mangled body. Claire and her friend Parker discover some psychedelic mushrooms Claire's aunt sent her. Nate and Brenda visit a rabbi in preparation for their wedding. The rabbi stresses the importance of honesty in marriage, and both Nate and Brenda feel guilty over the secrets they have been keeping from each other. When Nate shares a secret, however, Brenda feels hurt. Nikolai continues to reject Ruth's affections, but she remains determined to help take care of him -- so much so that she puts the family finances in jeopardy. Keith's parents inform Keith that they wish to take their granddaughter Taylor home with them. Ruth visits Claire's guidance counselor, and they discuss the possibility that Claire suffers from depression. Federico notices something odd about Mrs. Kirky's body. Brenda, who is still dealing with Nate's admission, gets stoned and has traumatic memories of her childhood. Mitzi Dalton Huntley shows up at Fisher and Sons to inform David and Nate that her company is paying Mrs. Collins's legal fees; Mitzi assumes that the Fishers will be forced to sell their property at a dramatically reduced price. In desperation, David pays Mrs. Collins a visit. Claire and Parker eat the psychedelic mushrooms, and Brenda goes to talk things over with Nate.
