ZENON: GIRL OF THE 21ST CENTURY (TV)
Summary
Set in the year 2049, this made-for-TV movie focuses on Zenon Kar, a spunky and outspoken thirteen-year-old living on a space station owned by Parker Wyndham. When Wyndham visits, Commander Edward Plank reminds those on board that if the businessman is not impressed by everything the space station has to offer, he will not renew his funding -- and the space station will perish. When she meets Wyndham, Zenon finds something about him fishy. She grows more uneasy when she sees Wyndham's assistant Lutz attempt to get into the main memory bank of the space station. Hidden, she watches Lutz insert something into the computer, but she accidentally trips the alarm and is discovered. No one believes her conspiracy theory, especially after Wyndham promises the space station full funding. As punishment for breaking into the memory bank, Zenon is sent back to earth to live with her Aunt Judy. Zenon's best friend Nebula gives her an earring as a going-away present, which turns out to be made from the data disc Lutz inserted into the main memory bank; he dropped it accidentally. Zenon makes friends at her new school, and a boy named Greg aids her as she tries to figure out what Wyndham and Lutz are planning. The teens discover that Wyndham's company is in financial difficulties. They also figure out that Zenon's earring is important, and their friend Andrew discovers that the disc carries a computer virus that will destroy the entire space station. No one other than Zenon's friends will believe her story, however, so she and Greg make plans to get a reversal program into the space station's computers before it is too late. This program is closed-captioned.
