BRINK! (TV)
Summary
This made-for-television film concerns the crises that befall a team of in-line skaters as they prepare for a major tournament. The film begins on the last day of summer vacation as Andy "Brink" Brinker and his three friends practice elaborate skating routines at a California recreational park known as the Pit. Brink and his friends identify themselves as "Soul Skaters" because they pride themselves on their lack of concern with winning corporate sponsorship for their team. Members of another local crew, led by the bullying misanthrope Val, do their best to make things difficult for Brink and his team: they constantly usurp control of the Pit and show off their X-Blades-sponsored fancy equipment. Brink tires of the X-Blades' harassment, and he accepts a challenge from Val to hold a dangerous relay race on school grounds. In the middle of the race, Brink stops to help a fallen opponent named Boomer, forfeiting the race for his team. Brink later learns that Boomer's injury will keep him from competing in the important upcoming tournament -- and that the X-Blades team is looking for a talented replacement. Brink is tempted to consider joining the X-Blades. When his mother and father reveal that they are having financial troubles, he thinks even more seriously about the team. Val is initially wary of letting Brink join the squad, but he knows that Brink is very talented and would guarantee victory for the X-Blades. Brink decides he will join the team but keep his defection from his friends. After several near misses, Brink's duplicity is finally revealed just before the tournament. Commercials deleted.
