SOPRANOS, THE: MR. RUGGIERO'S NEIGHBORHOOD {THIRD SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. In this episode, the FBI heats up their investigation on Tony, searching for a way to get evidence against him. They decide to wiretap his basement -- site of many of his "business" conversations -- with a bug hidden in a desk lamp. Meanwhile, Patsy Parisi mopes around town, mourning the death of his twin brother Spoons, secretly holding ill will against Tony. Also, Carmela and Adriana get a new tennis instructor, while A.J. trades a life of playing hooky and smoking cigarettes for a spot on the junior varsity football team. With the tap in place, the FBI begins surveilling the Soprano residence, until an unexpected household emergency temporarily derails their investigation. The episode ends with a drunken Patsy nearly shooting an unwitting Tony, before ultimately deciding to simply urinate in his swimming pool.
