Summary
One in this comedy series about Mary Richards, a single career woman working in a television newsroom. In this episode, Mary discovers that she is earning fifty dollars less a week than the man who preceded her as associate producer. She talks it over with Lou, who attempts to rationalize the situation. In a meeting with Lou, Ted, and Mary, the station manager demands that they make the newscasts more entertaining. Straight-journalist Lou is against the idea, but Mary thinks a more informal atmosphere might be good for the program and is put in charge of the project. She decides to use two anchormen instead of one, displeasing Ted, who doesn't want to share his time in front of the camera. Ted is further chagrined when he discovers that he will be the "straight man" in the pairing -- and he sets out to prove that he can be funny, too. Commercials deleted.
