SEX AND THE CITY: POLITICALLY ERECT (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Carrie Bradshaw, a single Manhattanite who writes a popular sex-advice column for a newspaper while dishing out dating advice and dirt with her three closest friends. In this episode, Carrie finds herself in a moral quandary after the politician she is dating asks her to perform a decidedly deviant sex act with him. Carrie insists to her friends that the man is otherwise a perfect catch -- handsome, wealthy, ambitious, sensitive, and caring. Carrie's friends, however, are preoccupied with their own relationship problems. Miranda becomes more and more protective of her free time after Steve tells her that he wants their relationship to become exclusive. Miranda's friends laugh at the irony of her situation; all of them complain about men who won't commit, but Miranda runs from commitment when she is actually offered it. Meanwhile, Samantha is horrified to learn that the attractive and successful man who has been flirting heavily with her at a local bar is only five feet tall when he finally steps off of his barstool. Although Samantha enjoys the man's company, she readily admits that appearances are extremely important to her. While Samantha mulls over this predicament, Charlotte decides to throw a party to which friends are encouraged to bring along a guest they like in a friendly -- rather than romantic -- way. The party does not go as planned as all of the guests ultimately decide that they are better off pursuing romance with their friends than entering the city's unforgiving dating pool. Even Samantha reconsiders her position when she discovers that the little person from the bar makes up for his shortcomings by being a very enthusiastic and creative lover.
