SEX AND THE CITY: RUNNING WITH SCISSORS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Carrie Bradshaw, a single Manhattanite who writes a popular sex-advice column for a newspaper while dishing out dating advice and dirt with her three closest friends. In this episode, Carrie wonders about the emotional side of safe sex as her affair with Mr. Big escalates. Big gets upset when Carrie mentions her boyfriend, Aidan, and the two fight about always having to meet in private. Later that day, Carrie tells Miranda about her affair with Big, and they discuss how Carrie should get out of the mess. At a downtown club, Samantha meets her sexual male equivalent, Tom Reymi. Before they can become intimate, however, he asks her whether she has had an AIDS test. At lunch the next day, Charlotte has her friends looking through bridal magazines to find dresses for the wedding -- until Samantha asks the others whether they have been tested for AIDS. Samantha reveals that she is terrified about having the test. She also recommends that Charlotte hire a stylist to help her find a bridal gown. Miranda gets upset after a man dressed as a sandwich handing out flyers for a chain sandwich shop harasses her verbally. Carrie begins to fight with Aidan as the guilt over her affair builds, and after Charlotte catches Carrie and Big coming out of a hotel the two friends argue. In the meantime, Samantha passes her AIDS test and becomes intimate with Reymi, and Miranda begins to imagine what the sandwich man looks like underneath his costume. Big and Carrie meet at his apartment while his wife Natasha is in the Hamptons. When Natasha comes home early and finds Carrie there, Carrie tries to escape -- and Natasha has an accident. At the close of the program, Carrie has found her way to get out of the affair and back at home with Aidan.
