ASPETTANDO MAI DIRE GRANDE FRATELLO {WAIT BUT SAY, BIG BROTHER} {ITALIAN} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of Italian television shows with commentary by Gialappa's Band. This edition follows the exploits of the contestants of the "reality" program "Grande Fratello," or "Big Brother," at various points during the game. The contest throws ten young men and women into a house for 100 days, constantly in the view of video cameras. They must obey rules and avoid elimination from the group. The commentators begin by taking notice of what they see as the contestants' adoption of quasi-savage, tribal behavior. Special attention is paid to intimate moments in which the contestants engage in such behavior as singing alone, cooking, eating, drinking, cleaning the house, or cleaning themselves. The band also highlights humorous moments, including one in which contestants wait too long in line for the one bathroom, fall into the pool, receive a Labrador puppy from outside to lighten up their lives, or play jokes on each other. The program also zooms in on special moments; for example, Sergio speaks of a mystical vision of his father. For variety, an eliminated player, Rocco, is invited to talk about his experiences in the house; by telephone one of his former mates in the game, Roberta, tells him what she really thinks about him. The program goes on to depict quieter moments again, including questions about the meaning of life and bedtime discussions about relationships. The camera delves into more intimacy by showing one of the players as he writes to his wife and by catching the moment at which another witnesses a lovemaking interlude. At the program's end, the wife of Lorenzo, one of the contestants, talks of missing her husband -- and offers herself to any man. Commercials deleted.
