STRANGERS WITH CANDY: JERRI'S BURNING ISSUE {THIRD SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." In this episode, Jerri assures her new boyfriend Jared that they can have sex without using a condom as, in her words, "the pipes fell out years ago." When Jared protests, Jerri lies and tells him that their union is her first time. The next day at school, Jerri and Jared are selected "Lord and Lady" of the school dance. When Jerri tells her stepmother about the selection, Mrs. Blank gives Jerri a pat on the back. "That's cute, dear," she says to Jerri. "The theme this year must be opposites." The next day at school, Jerri is working on posters for the school dance when a cab driver pulls over and motions Jerri to the cab. He explains that he recognizes Jerri from a past fling -- and that he feels obligated to tell her that he has tested positive for syphilis. Jerri is mortified that she'll have to tell Jared, and she keeps delaying their talk. In the meantime, she visits the doctor, who tells her that her "syphilis is infested with crabs, all of which are carrying gonorrhea." Jerri goes to her friends for support, but they are all vocal with their disapproval of Jerri's fondness for unsafe sex. "But real cowboys like to ride bareback," she whimpers. When Jerri goes to Principal Blackman for advice, she accidentally relates her problem over the public-address system. Jerri is crushed, thinking that there is no way that Jared will forgive her. Commercials deleted.
