STRANGERS WITH CANDY: LET FREEDOM RING (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." In this episode, Flatpoint High is up in arms over racial graffiti sprayed on the wall. Jerri befriends Paul Cotton, whom Principal Blackman holds as a suspect, and Paul confides in her that he worries that everyone will think he is a racist. She assures him that she is not a racist as she draws a "buck-toothed China man" for her art-class project. In the meantime, Principal Blackman and Mr. Noblet decide to bring in grief counselor Percy Kittens to help Mr. Jellineck, who has been traumatized by the graffiti. Jerri then rescues Paul from a group of jocks who assert that "the only thing they hate more than racists are spics," and Jerri invites Paul to her house after school. Blackman and Kittens begin to suspect Mr. Jellineck and Mr. Noblet of spraying the graffiti after an ineffective counseling session. At Jerri's house, Paul discovers that she has a spray paint can hidden in her book bag after she coerces him into her bedroom to see her "liberty bell." He accuses her of distracting him from telling the truth with sex and runs off. Back at school, Kittens and Principal Blackman pressure Paul into telling them who sprayed the graffiti with a filmstrip starring Principal Blackman, but Jerri comes in and confesses her hatred toward black people. Commercials deleted.
