STRANGERS WITH CANDY: RETARDATION, A CELEBRATION {SHORT FILM PILOT EPISODE} {UNAIRED} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." In this episode, Jerri is approached by school administrators to observe Kimberly Timothy, a locker mate and cheerleader, for signs of retardation. Jerri questions Kimberly and decides that she is in fact retarded, but Jerri has a moral dilemma. She does not want to turn Kimberly in to Mr. Blackman, Flatpoint High's principal, for fear of what he may do to Kimberly. Instead Jerri visits the school library to learn more about retardation, and she discovers that the retarded are "people, just like you and me." Jerri then refuses to tell Principal Blackman that Kimberly is retarded. Later, while Jerri is working at the Fossilton Rehabilitation Center, she has a change of heart.
