Summary
The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Texas tells Vernon that the GGG's national funding has fallen through and that the group's members thus have to "stand on their own two feet"; Tom begins to question Vernon's motives; Vernon and Tex plot to pin the plant bombing on Fernwood's only African-American resident, Dewey; Lila visits Mary to retrieve Wanda's diary, but they discover that it has been stolen; Cathy flirts with Mac; and Wanda and Merle meet with Vernon to discuss the formation of the "guardian party" with Merle as its candidate, deciding to hold a "Dimes for Disease" telethon to raise money for the campaign. Commercials deleted.
