MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 44} {MARY PLANS LEROY'S FUNERAL} (TV)
Summary
The second of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mary is consumed by guilt following Leroy's death. Blanche tries to convince her that his drowning in a bowl of Mary's chicken soup was purely accidental, but Mary feels that, having provided the "murder weapon," she is at least guilty of manslaughter. Feeling responsible, she insists on paying for the funeral expenses. Blanche is hardly moved by her husband's demise, however, and realizes that they never really knew or loved each other. Meanwhile, Steve leaves to have his poems published in New York City, promising to marry Cathy upon his return. In addition, Martha's suspicions about George's activities at an out-of-town convention are well-founded. Commercials deleted.
