PRACTICE, THE: PASSING GO {THIRD SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The third season premiere in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, Ellenor receives a phone call from a client who says he hit a pedestrian while driving under the influence. She tells him to drink some more liquor in plain sight to "calm his nerves" so that no one can prove that he had liquor in his system before the accident. When she arrives at the scene of the crime she discovers that Bobby is the pedestrian who was hit. Bobby quickly recovers from the trauma, and Allan's breathalyzer test results are very high, primarily because of the alcohol he consumed after the accident. Ellenor manages to keep him from serving time in jail, but she becomes disillusioned with the law once she realizes that resorting to underhanded tactics and looking for loopholes have become second nature to her. Eugene defends Kevin Peete, a college student accused of raping and killing a fifteen-year-old girl. He says that his roommate, Joel, is the guilty one, but Joel uses the same story. Although Kevin passes the polygraph test, such evidence is not admissible in court, and Eugene makes a fatal mistake in his closing argument. Meanwhile, Bobby admits to Lindsay that he is ashamed of the fact that his father is a janitor, and Rebecca passes the bar exam and goes a bit overboard on her first case. Commercials deleted.
