SOPRANOS, THE: DENIAL, ANGER, ACCEPTANCE (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. As the episode begins, Christopher and Brendan return the truck they hijacked, at Tony's insistence, in order to appease Uncle Junior. Junior expresses his disappointment in the boys to Livia, and they hold faith in Christopher while remaining distrustful of Brendan. Also, an elderly Hasidic man, Shlomo Titleman, hires Tony to persuade his son-in-law, Ariel, to divorce his daughter without receiving any money in return. Ariel refuses to cooperate until Tony threatens him in a novel fashion. But the situation becomes complicated when Shlomo refuses to pay the agreed upon fee. Meanwhile, Carmela hires Arthur and Charmaine Bucco to cater a hospital fundraiser in order to alleviate their financial woes, since their restaurant was torched. But the Buccos have a tough time working for their friends, and tense encounters follow. Also, Tony repeatedly visits his powerful friend, Jack, who suffers in the hospital from a serious case of cancer. Although he regularly discusses the situation with his psychiatrist, he is troubled by the sight of a once-strong, vital man wasting away. And Christopher ends up in trouble after he supplies Meadow and Hunter with drugs to help them study. As the program concludes, Brendan also finds himself in hot water.
