BEN STILLER SHOW, THE: ZOOTV AT NIGHT {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The final installment in this series of comedy shows hosted by Ben Stiller, with ensemble cast members Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk. This episode is hosted from a steam room, much to the dismay of Garofalo, the cast's sole female member. In the first sketch, Otto, the Anti-Cupid, is embittered by the success of his younger brother, Cupid, and forces folks to fall in love with the wrong people. The Anti-Cupid causes a studious young outdoorsman to fall for an elderly woman, and then the orderly at her nursing home. Next, in a commercial spoofing Ouija boards, children are led into scary occult practices using the Kreepee board to investigate the world of the dead. Then, talent agent Michael Pheret encourages comedian Howie Mandel to play a superhero with an extraordinary sense of smell. Odenkirk is then interviewed on the news program ":30 Conspiracy" about his theory that John F. Kennedy was assassinated because of his dream to mass produce an electric car. Next, Dick impersonates Jacques Cousteau recording a documentary on manatees while drinking too much wine. In a mock version of a talk show, "Zoo TV Late at Night," the parodied rock band U2 interviews Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford, and they all sing the theme song to "The Jeffersons." The show concludes as Stiller, playing Casey Kasem, argues with his wife, played by Garofalo, while eating dinner out. Commercials deleted.
