OZ: ANIMAL FARM (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas set in Oswald Maximum Security Penitentiary, nicknamed "Oz." In this episode, Beecher is tormented by grief and guilt after his wife's suicide, and confused by his newfound love for Keller. Eventually the pressure becomes too much and he turns to alcohol. When Ryan's brother, Cyril, enters Oz after murdering Dr. NathanÕs husband, Ryan desperately wants to protect his brother from SchillingerÕs abuse, but he cannot force himself to give McManus the one piece of information that could buy Cyril's transfer out of the general population. Ex-priest Robert Sippel prepares to leave Oz, having finished his sentence, but cannot forgive himself for his unholy desire for a young boy; with the new policy requiring sex offenders to register with the police department, he has little chance of putting his crime behind him. Sister Peter Marie urges Father Ray to help Sippel re-enter society, but Father Ray cannot get past his abhorrence of SippelÕs crime. Meanwhile, Adebisi falls in love with death row inmate Shirley Billinger sight unseen, through notes passed to each other on food trays. Just when the romance sends him on a drug-hazed and murderous spree, he is stopped in his tracks by a new African inmate who has a mysterious hold over Adebisi. Antonio Nappa, a new inmate, plans to punish Adebisi for harming Nappa's godson, Peter Schibetta. But when he sees the influence the African prisoner wields over Adebisi, Nappa wonders if his work is being done for him. The prisoners of Em City rise to new heights of sympathy and generosity when they find out that RebadowÕs grandson is dying of leukemia and, shy about expressing they feelings, they rally around Rebadow. Also, El Cid is making life miserable for Miguel, but when Miguel asks how he can get on El Cid's good side, he is given a nearly impossible task. Finally, McManus takes a stand with Whittelsey when the burden of truth about Scott RossÕs murder is too much for him to bear. And to the dismay of Em City residents, Poet is back in Oz on a new set of charges.
